| Structural TipAvoiding Risk: Essential Dos and Don’tsEnsuring that modifications to a PV system adhere to the approved engineering plan is crucial for safety and financial protection. Changes that deviate from the approved design may compromise safety and lead to costly adjustments or reinstallation. To protect both homeowners and your financial interests, follow these key guidelines: DO:Contact the Engineer of Record (EOR) if you need to make changes to the approved layout or attachments during installation.Upload and resubmit revised drawings for restamping if modifications are made. The EOR can review the changes and suggest alternatives if necessary.Indicate any previous engineering work in the project’s description.Provide engineer-approved (stamped) drawings of the existing structure if the new installation involves an addition.DON’T:Modify the layout, number of panels, attachments, or penetration patterns without re-approval from a certified engineer, as this can pose safety risks and result in financial loss.Upload solar as-built drawings with the initial project delivery unless you clearly specify if the project is new or a post-installation addition.
